Reptile and Venomous Snake Handling Course (Theory)

Even before the dreaded COVID pushed people into online learning, Snakehandler developed online training for our Nationally recognised handling course, this means that you can complete the necessary theory in your own time, from the comfort of your own space. We simply ask that it is complete before the date of the practical training day you opt for.  

We cover all the topics required by wildlife departments around Australia to have a good grounding in the nature and behaviour of native reptile, how to use scientific keys to recognise species, the health and safety aspect of handling reptiles, what venom is and how to treat snake bite in Australia as well as learning the pro’s and con’s of a variety of hands on and hands off techniques to catch and relocate reptiles. At the end of the theory, you print off the certificate as evidence of completion, you can even use this in your application for a permit to catch and release snakes from your relevant wildlife department.

The online theory will take between 8-10 hours depending on your internet speed and your prior knowledge.
