Venomous Snake Practical Handling Training
To participate in the practical handling session and assessment for the Reptile and Venomous Snake Control Course, you must first complete the theory component. This course is also suitable for individuals seeking to update or refresh their skills.
Please ensure you bring your certificate of completion when attending the practical session. If you are undertaking refresher training, you are required to present your certificate from a Nationally Accredited Training Course in Reptile and Snake Handling.
It is essential to arrive with:
· Your certificate of theory completion (or Nationally Accredited Training certificate for refresher participants)
· Mandatory attire for handling venomous snakes, including*:
· Long, loose-fitting pants
· Long-sleeve shirt
· Sturdy, fully enclosed shoes such as work boots or solid hiking boots
Pen and paper for note-taking
Drinks for the day (water will be available), as well as snacks and lunch
Most venues are conveniently located near cafes, allowing you to purchase lunch if preferred.
What to Expect on the Day
The practical session covers snake identification and the safe handling of various reptiles, including lizards, monitors, pythons, colubrids, and at least eight different species of venomous snakes.
Course fees vary by location due to travel requirements; Victorian-based courses are typically less expensive as they are conducted at our office.
Please note: Participants must be over 18 years of age to complete the practical handling component.
The course duration is approximately 8 to 10 hours, depending on group size and dynamics.
Upon enrolment, you will receive a document outlining the venue location and a checklist of items to bring on the day.
You must complete the online theory course prior to entry into the practical day. This is an additional course fee of $275
