Comprehensive Online and Practical Training

Welcome to our Reptile and Venomous Snake Control Training Course. Designed for first-time participants and experienced people too, this program consists of two essential components: an online theory module and an in-person practical assessment. The course is structured to provide in-depth knowledge of reptile identification and hands-on experience in safely handling a variety of reptiles.

Our blended training approach ensures you gain all the benefits of a traditional face-to-face course, with the added flexibility of completing the theory component from the comfort of your own home. The online module can be completed over several evenings, allowing you to learn at your own pace.

Course Units

·      VU23618 – Provide information on the behaviour of reptiles in human habitats

·      VU23619 – Comply with legislative and WHS requirements for venomous snake catching and release

·      VU23620 – Provide initial first aid for snake bites

·      VU23621 – Identify snakes and reptiles

·      VU23622 – Handle reptiles

Course Structure and Duration

·      Online Theory Training: $275. The theory course takes approximately 8–10 hours to complete thoroughly.

·      Practical Training: Fees range from $275 to $675 depending on location. The practical component also takes 8–10 hours, depending on group size.

Certification and Requirements

·      Upon completion of the theory module, please print your certificate and bring it to your practical assessment day.

·      Participants in Queensland must present this certificate as part of the requirements for obtaining a Damage Mitigation Permit (DMP).* The other required documents are the certificate from our practical training and a current first aid certificate.

·      Enrolment is valid for 90 days from the date of purchase.

*Please refer to local regulations for full DMP and other state government requirements. While Snakehandler staff can and will supply a written reference for successful participants and will comment on what we observe on the day of training, it is at the discretion of the licensing body if this is sufficient for an application to relocate wildlife.

Join us to gain the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed for safe reptile and venomous snake control.
